Non-Maintained Special Schools (NMSS)

NMSS are schools that the Secretary of State for Education has approved under section 342 of the Education Act 1996 (Opens in new window). Usually children and young people attending these schools will have an education, health and care plan (EHCP). Places in NMSS have to be commissioned by the Local Authority that provides the funding for the child or young person’s EHCP. If you wish to discuss a potential placement at a NMSS please contact:
