Starting Secondary School

When moving from primary to secondary school you will receive help and support from the Schools Admissions Team and the EHC Assessment and Review Team.

Moving from primary to secondary

The transition is helped by primary schools passing on information to secondary and special schools to ensure that your child has a learning programme which builds on past successes. By working together we hope to make your child’s move as smooth as possible.

Secondary school places for children with Special Educational Needs

If your child has a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Education, Health and Care Plan (My Plan), the process of transferring to secondary school is different. The Local Authority has to consult with your preferred school before it can be named on the Plan. Your child will not be disadvantaged in any way; it just means that the EHC Assessment and Review Team of the Local Authority has to follow different procedures.
