The Kensington Foundation is a Blackpool-based charity whose objectives are to promote the relief of homelessness, poverty, deprivation and distress. Currently we fund and manage the following projects:
The Daisy Chain Project: holiday accommodation for respite breaks.
The Crisis Grant Line: grant-aid to those in need of assistance.
Jack In The Box: free toys for families in need.
The Margaret Kane Canal Boat: offering day cruises and short residential breaks.
This is a respite holiday programme which offers self-contained and peaceful accommodation for special needs children and their families.
There are ten apartments in total and the holidays run from Monday to Sunday. A non refundable application fee is requested with the application form.
Kensington Court which accommodates the Daisy Chain Project, is a purpose-built block of ten two bedroomed apartments, centrally heated with its own car park, situated in the south of Blackpool. All have been decorated to a very high standard.
Our Furniture Recycling Service And Crisis Grant Line has been in operation since 1995 and applies to those residents living in the Blackpool and Fylde area. It offers basic items of furniture for those whose income does not meet their basic needs.
Any items the Charity purchases for claimants are where possible, sourced from local independent suppliers.
Each request for assistance is followed by an assessment visit in order to determine how we can best help each claimant.
The success of this service depends in part on the generosity of donations from the public. You are welcome to book a free collection to donate items which include:
Sofas, suites, armchairs, wardrobes, drawers, beds, tables and chairs.
We would also be happy to accept donations of kitchenware, bedding and towels.
Unfortunately we cannot except white goods.

Community Food Cupboard
The Kensington Foundation also provides a Community Food Cupboard which enables professionals and charities working with families and individuals to access food for those in need.
This unique project applies to local residents living in the Blackpool and Fylde area and underpins the work of those Professionals supporting families in need.
The toys are given, not loaned and we are therefore always in need of good quality donations. We are grateful to any retailer or member of the public who feels able to help us as re-cycling has always been a priority in our work.
