About
We are provided as part of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing's services. It is an informal contact point based in the main shopping centre at the heart of Kirkholt.
What we do
Our services include:
- Help in contacting council services.
- 1 to 1 employment advice.
- Information on the local area and services.
- Advice for tenants new to the area.
- Free internet access and support with CV writing
Community Investment Team
We provides a base and support for a number of voluntary and community groups working on the estate.
The Pantry
The Pantry is run by local Volunteers and supported by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing. It offers residents on Kirkholt the opportunity to reduce their food bills whilst purchasing a wide range of branded items.
For just £4 each week you can visit Your Local Pantry on The Strand and receive groceries up to the value of £15
Opening times: Thursday 9.30am to 12noon.
Workwear workshop
The RBH workwear workshop helps people to 'get the clothes, get the confidence, get the job'.
Everybody knows how important first impressions are. But not everybody knows that the first impression is only a five second window and many people can fail an interview as soon as they walk in the room.
The RBH workwear workshop helps people to ‘get the clothes, get the confidence, get the job’. This bespoke service is for anyone who has secured a job interview but doesn’t have any formal cloths to attend their interview. A free of charge service providing everyone with the appropriate clothing to attend their interview in confidence.
Anyone accessing the service must provide evidence of an interview to access service
- Free service available to all
- Workwear Workshop will help to style people for their interviews
- A range of shoes, men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, toiletries available
- If there is nothing in stock in your size, we can access new clothes from a range of clothing stores
Age friendly activities in Kirkholt
Monday
11am - Walk and talk group at the strand cafe.
12pm - Men's health group at Million pavilion (1st Monday of the month).
1pm - Bowling at St Thomas' church.
Tuesday
9am - Men's space, free breakfast and games at Kirkholt community church.
11am - Over 50's get together at the strand cafe.
Wednesday
11am - Q gardens gardening group on Queens drive.
Thursday
11.30am - Bike library on Mornington road.
12.30pm - seriously crafty women's group at Kirkholt community church.
1pm - Bowling at St Thomas' church.
Friday
10am - Blooming marvelous gardening and arts at the strand hub.
12pm - Paint a pot at Million pavilion (there is a charge per pot).
2pm - Knit a natter at Balderstone library.
Sunday
11am - Q garden gardening group on Queens drive.
