Jane Edwards (Little Acorns)
About
I have been a registered childminder since March 2014. Prior to this I was a childminding assistant for a local childminder. Before being registered I worked within Rochdale Council for 17 years in Children and Families.
I have over 20 years experience working with families and in particular parenting groups.
About my childcare provision
My front room is set out for small world play and reading, stories and music time. The extended kitchen provides meals, snacks, arts, crafts and imaginative play. The accessible outdoor area provides physical play opportunities, slide, little tikes cars, teepee and mud kitchen. The secure fenced garden is accessible most of the year (unless severe weather).
The pre school children (6 months to 5 years) have the opportunity to visit groups and go on outings on a regular basis. This fits in with observations, learning journeys and developmental tracking as required by Ofsted.
I have a before/after school where children are provided with nutritional snacks and activities. I also run a holiday club accessed by all ages and offer planned activities and outings.
I access regular Safeguarding training, Paediatric First Aid and Level 2 Food Hygiene. I also have training membership at Rochdale Council and look for courses that would benefit the children within my care. I am also a member of Forest Childcare Association which requires me to take children into park/forest/green space areas once a week.
I have all updated policies and procedures, newsletters, child development records, training certificates online. Parents are invited to use the 'Little Acorns' private Facebook page for regular updates.
I offer 2, 3 and 4 year old funded children (either 15 or 30 hours) and accept Childcare Voucher Scheme. I am also registered with HMRC. I am also registered with the 'Tax Free Childcare Scheme'.
