School Holiday Activities and Childcare

We have various activities and holiday clubs around the borough for children and young people throughout the summer hoildays. 

Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme- 4 to 16 year old

Rochdale Borough Council and Your Trust Holiday Activity and Food Programme summer 2021. All activities are free and include food. Sessions are available across Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton and the Pennines.

There are a variety of fun and enriching activities for children and young people aged 4 to 16 to take part in. 

Who is eligible

If your child receives free school meals you may be eligible for a free holiday activity.

Middleton sports and gymnastic clubs - 5 to 12 year old

We know that school holidays can be a tricky time for parents looking to balance work and life commitments while keeping children entertained.

We want children to have fun, make new friends and take part in lots of activities, even trying something new and we offer a variety of sessions for children and young people at various venues across the borough.

Multi-Sports

Delivered by accredited and Multi-Sports Coaches with years of experience. Helping to keep your children active, healthy and creative and most importantly, having fun.

Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, excluding bank holidays. 

Dates: 2 – 6 August, 9 – 13 August and 23 – 27 August.

Things to bring: packed lunch and snacks, refillable drinks bottle and swimming kit.

Gymnastics

Delivered by British Gymnastics accredited coaches. Your children will be active, develop fundamental skills and make new friends.

Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm.

Dates: 26 – 30 July and 16 – 20 August. 

Things to bring: refillable drinks bottle, packed lunch and snacks.

Activities and sports

For different types of activities for the whole family, including sports clubs, parent and toddler groups, play centres, dance and drama classes and local museums and galleries.

Accessible activities - 4 to 18 year old

FRESH Holiday Club - Summer 2021

A programme for children with mild to moderate additional needs. Activities include football, dance, cycling, orienteering, yoga, boccia and so much more. All in a fun, safe environment with understanding staff and a chance to make some new friends.  

Sessions are aimed at three age groups:
• 4-7 years
• 8-12 years
• 13-18 years

Your child may attend two sessions per week of the summer holiday period. Session times, dates and venues can be found below.

  • Tuesday 27th of July, Heywood Sports Village, 12pm to 5pm
  • Wednesday 28th of July, Middleton Arena, 12pm to 5pm
  • Friday 30th of July, Heywood Sports Village, 12pm to 5pm

Week 2

  • Monday 2nd of August, Middleton Arena, 12pm to 5pm
  • Tuesday 3rd of August, Heywood Sports Village, 12pm to 5pm
  • Wednesday 4th of August, Middleton Arena, 12pm to 5pm
  • Friday 6th of August, Heywood Sports Village, 12pm to 5pm

How to book

Accessible Cycling

These sessions provide fun and stimulating quality cycling for all children and adults with disabilities and differing needs.

Using specially adapted cycles, sessions are both physically and mentally stimulating for everyone involved.

Our team have the knowledge and confidence to work with adapted cycles helping participants to enjoy the benefits of cycling and have fun.

Rochdale Short Breaks

A short break gives a child or young person with a disability the opportunity to spend time away from their family, taking part in leisure activities or simply relaxing.

Families in turn get a break from their caring responsibilities.

#Thrive - 5 to 19 year old

#Thrive is for children and young people aged up to 19 years old who are experiencing emotional health and wellbeing issues.

#Thrive has lots of different types of support; offering advice to improve general lifestyle, counselling sessions, online courses or access to other types of support such as sport, drama, music or art.
