Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

We help children and young people up to the age of 18 years, up to 19 for neurodevelopmental disorders, and provide support to families and carers.

Some of the problems that we can help with include:

• Anxiety
• Depression
• Eating disorders
• Psychosis
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Self-harm · ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
• ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder)
• More complex psychological difficulties

We also provide consultation, advice and training to other agencies and accept referrals from a wide range of professionals.

In our team we come from a range of clinical and professional backgrounds, such as psychiatrists, nurses, social workers or psychologists, among others.

If you are a health and education professional, you can report concerns about the emotional or mental health and wellbeing of a child or young person.

We work in partnership with Bury and Rochdale Care Organisation (part of the Northern Care Alliance group), Thinking Ahead (part of the Big Life Group) and Home Start.

We promote the importance of parent and infant mental health and the first relationship an infant has with their parent or carer. We work with you and your baby during pregnancy, and with you and your babies and young children up until their second birthday.

You can access support by speaking to your GP, midwife, health visitor or any other professional who is supporting you and your family. 

The Perinatal Trauma and Loss Service - PETALS

Is a trauma informed talking therapies service working across Greater Manchester. We offer psychological and therapeutic support for women and people residing in Greater Manchester, who are experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties as a direct result of perinatal loss.

If you are already being seen by CAMHS and it is during office hours (Monday -Friday 9am - 5pm), call your CAMHS worker:

• You can also call NHS Emergency & Urgent Care Services by dialling 111

• If you do not currently have a CAMHS worker,  or it is outside of office hours, or if you need urgent medical attention you should attend A&E.  When you get to A&E you will be seen by a mental health professional as soon as possible.

If you are already open to CAMHS and have a Crisis Plan, please follow the plan. You should have a written copy of it. If not, contact your case manager and ask for a new copy of the plan.

If you are open to CAMHS and do not have a Crisis Plan, please ring your local CAMHS and ask to speak to your case manager. If he or she is not available, ask to speak to the duty worker.

If you are NOT already open to CAMHS and are feeling suicidal please either go to A&E or access emergency services.
