About

Every family in Heywood Middleton and Rochdale with a child aged 0 to 5 years has a named health visitor.

Health visitors are qualified nurses or midwives who have specialist qualifications in community public health. Their training allows them to assess the health needs of individuals and families to promote good health and prevent illness.

What we do

We offer support and encouragement to you and your family from pregnancy and birth, early years, to primary school. We can give advice on lots of things including

  • Infant feeding
  • Healthy weight and nutrition
  • Child development
  • Accident prevention
  • Oral health
  • Emotional health and well-being

We will offer you a core set of visits. If you need extra support we can tailor the service around your needs. We deliver care in your home

  • Children’s centres
  • Community-based locations
