Summer Holiday Activities and Childcare

We have various activities and holiday clubs around the borough for children and young people throughout the summmer holidays. 

Your Trust - school holiday activities

We know that school holidays can be a tricky time for parents looking to balance work and life commitments while keeping children entertained.   We want children to have fun, make new friends and take part in lots of activities, even trying something new and we offer a variety of sessions for children & young people at various venues across the borough.

Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme - 4 to 16 year olds

Welcome to the Rochdale Borough Council and Your Trust Holiday Activity and Food programme summer 2022. All activities are free and include food. Sessions are available across Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton and the Pennines.

There are a variety of fun and enriching activities for children and young people aged 4 -16 to take part in. Please see information below and the different booking information for each session. Some of the providers may ask for a voucher code.

Who is eligible

If your child receives free school meals you may be eligible for a free holiday activity.

Skylight Circus Arts – Spark Circus Show

Parade & Circus Show 1pm

A spectacular circus event in Falinge Park. A dazzling carnival parade with a Grande finale of incredible aerial and circus skills in the Victorian Garden.

Free Summer Fun Day – Grandparent and Grandchildren Event

Share memories with your grandchildren and make new ones together. We have performances, entertainers, Circus Arts, lunch and fairground games.

After Matters Present - Family Fun Day

Littleborough Sports Club, Rakewood Road, Littleborough, OL15 0AP 1pm to 8pm.

Saturday 20th August 2022.

What’s on: Giant inflatables, penalty shootout, face painting, character mascots, BBQ, pizza and prosecco bar, tombola, raffle prizes and craft stalls, brass band and cheerleaders, touch and tag rugby games, live music and lots more.

Summer activities for SEND children and young people

We have various activities, clubs and groups for children and young people with individual needs, including the Fresh club and Rochdale short breaks.

Food vouchers

If your child(ren) have free school meals then you will recieve a letter from your school telling you about the food vouchers you are eligible for during the school holidays.

This summer,  families will get one allocation of £90 per child for the summer at the beginning of the summer (£15 per week per child) and vouchers must be spent by 22nd September 2022.

If you have not recieved your food vouchers by the 2nd week of school holidays and believe you are entitled to free school meals, please email early.help@rochdale.gov.uk

Help with childcare costs

The government has introduced ways to help parents with childcare costs. Whether it's help through tax credits, help for student parents, child tax credit or universal credits.

#Thrive - 5 to 19 year old

#Thrive is for children and young people aged up to 19 years old who are experiencing emotional health and wellbeing issues.

#Thrive has lots of different types of support; offering advice to improve general lifestyle, counselling sessions, online courses or access to other types of support such as sport, drama, music or art.
