About

1 in 5 children in the UK have suffered abuse or neglect. That’s why, across the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, we’re working to protect children today and prevent abuse from happening tomorrow.

What we do

We stand up for children in England by finding the best ways to prevent abuse and neglect and influencing the government to take action.

We're committed to finding out what’s working and more importantly what isn’t, and what we can do about it. We do this by evaluating the services we provide for children and families and conducting research.

We have a wide range of information and advice on topics including:

  • Child abuse and neglect
  • Keeping children safe
  • Signs, syptoms and effects of abuse
  • Safeguarding
  • Child protection
Our helpline

Don't wait until you're certain if you are worried about a child. If you have any concerns or suspicions, contact us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We'll listen to your concerns, offer advice and support and can take action on your behalf if a child is in danger.

You don’t have to tell us who you are if you don’t want to, or you can ask us not to share your name or contact with the police or social services.
