Family Hubs provide a range of support services for families with children aged 0-19 or 0-25 for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We help you and your family through a range of different support and also provide the opportunity for you to attend groups and courses at the centre. We are linked to other local services such as the Family Information Service, health, adult care, SEND teams and Job Centre Plus. You can access help from professionals including midwives, health visitors and the family learning team.

Monday

No sessions 1st April 

Happy talk 9.30am – 10.30am (22nd April)

6 weekly sessions to support your child in becoming a confident communicator. Fun, practical techniques can be used at home to promote your child’s school readiness.

First steps into music 12.30pm- 1pm (term time)

Free fun music classes for babies, preschool children aged 0-4 years.

Family food

A 3 week course to support your baby on their weaning journey. For babies from 6 months. Ask food will be provided please advise staff of any allergies.

Tuesday

Baby sensory play 9.15am - 10.15am

A stimulating session for babies to promote relaxation, communication and bonding.

Suitable for babies aged 0-6 months.

Soothing senses 10.45am - 11.30am

A weekly play and Learn session offering a calm, soothing, low stimulation environment. 

Messy play 1pm - 2.30pm

A session in which your child can explore different textures. Food will be used so please speak to staff if your child has any allergies

Suitable for children aged 0-5 years. As this session is so popular, priority is given to Heywood families.

Wednesday

Introduction to Family Hub’s 9.30am – 11am (17th April)

Drop in session for those who are new to the area or to the family hubs. Come along and join us if you wish to know more about what the centres can offer families and children aged 0-5 years.

Play and learn 9.30am - 11am

Join us for a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for you and your child to promote school readiness. Suitable for children aged 0-5 years.

Family journey session 1pm – 2pm

Thursday

Elklan for parents 9.30am – 11.30am (starting in May)

1st week intro/sign up, followed by 7 week course. An opportunity for parents to gain an understanding of how to promote communication and language skills to help children become school ready. Suitable for children aged 0-5 years.

Bump to baby 9.30am – 11.30am (18th April)

A 3 week course for mums and dads to be from 16 weeks plus focusing on bonding, recognising baby’s needs, safe environment needed and more. We also explain what the family hubs offer.

Parent carer panel 1.30pm – 3pm (2nd May)

We want to hear from families living in the Rochdale borough with a child of 0-2 years. We would like you to be part of a parent and carer panel to help us further develop services in Family Hubs and the wider community. Crèche available. The panel will meet once every 8 weeks.

Easter special event 9.30am – 11am (4th April)

Join us for some Easter fun with lots of spring time activities for you and your children. Suitable for children aged 0-5 years.

Friday

No sessions 29th March

Baby soft play and WellComm 1.30pm - 3pm

A play session especially for babies please speak with the member of staff running the session if you would like a WellComm assessment completing for your child to support your child's development. Non-walking babies only.

Baby massage

A block of 5 weekly sessions for you and your baby. Supports bonding and attachment and baby’s brain development. Helps ease colic and builds communication skills. Suitable for babies aged 0-6 months.

Food Club

The Food Club is open Fridays 9.30am to 11.30am, there is a small cost to join the food club and then a small weekly charge.

Each member will be given a time to come and collect their food. You must book before you attend the food club.

Outreach sessions

Monday

First words together 1pm – 2pm (next course June, term time)

Heywood Library. Suitable for 0-2 years old. 5 week course to promote speech and language.

You must book onto this course via the family hubs and not the library.

Tuesday 

Heywood Sports Village turbo tots 9.30am – 11.15am (term time)

Monthly session. A fun physical session with soft play equipment. There will be a charge of £2.80 per child. Suitable for children aged 0-5 years.

Heywood Sports Village splash and play 11.45am – 12.45pm (23rd April)

Monthly swimming session. For children aged 0-5 years

 There will be a charge of £5.60 per adult and children go free (please bring cash to pay at entrance) 1 child per adult.
