Stronger Families - Supporting Families Keyworkers
About
Stronger Families in Rochdale is part of a national programme set up by the Government to work with some of the country’s most complex families, where a number of the following issues may be present:
- Parents or children involved in crime or anti-social behaviour
- Children who have not been attending school regularly
- Children who need help
- Adults out of work and young people at risk of worklessness
- Families affected by domestic violence and abuse
- Parents and children with a range of health problems
It is also part of a Greater Manchester regional approach to working with families with complex needs and looks at how we work with families at risk of developing complex needs, through public service reform.
How we can help
One key element of the Stronger Families approach is to appoint a lead professional for a family to offer intensive support with the intention of tackling problems and barriers.
This worker may be a Supporting Families Keyworker or a worker already known to the family through existing services who takes on the role.
The Lead professional will become the main contact and coordinator for the work undertaken by all involved, progressing towards agreed goals for the family for each of their identified issues. These goals are shared and jointly owned across the family and local partners through a single sequenced family plan.
