EHC Assessment and Review Team

The EHC Assessment and Review Team is responsible for carrying out statutory Education, Health and Care needs assessments for children and young people with high needs aged 0 to 25 years.

The needs of these children and young people are complex and significant and for most of them it is appropriate following the assessment to issue an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Service Update

The EHC Assessment and Review Team are socially distancing ourselves by working away from the office environment in line with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) guidance currently in place. We are all working at the moment and we have access to emails and phones as usual. We are continuing to run panels (through video conferencing and conference phone calls). We are in contact with our health and social care colleagues by phone and email.

We are still processing the requests for statutory assessments, writing EHC plans and redrafting EHCP’s from Annual Reviews. Schools may need to consider how annual review meetings will take place during the summer term and we support schools/settings holding a review by virtual meetings by telephone or video. Examples of video applications are Skype or Zoom.

We will continue to work to legal deadlines where possible and we will let you know if there are any problems with this.

We are emailing paperwork as access to our printers is limited because we are working away from the office. If we haven’t got your email address and need to send something to you we will contact you by telephone to get a contact email address from you.

What we do

We liaise closely with parents, education settings and a range of services involved with children and young people to ensure that the provision made for those with Education, Health and Care Plans is both co-ordinated and matched to their need.
